Modern Grey is a niche photography studio located in Seattle, specializing in portraits that are striking, quiet, and memorable - even a bit moody.
I’m Jonathan Reibsome, the eye behind Modern Grey.
What is “contemporary” portraiture?
Historically, portraiture has been reserved for special events; weddings, engagements, graduations etc. While these are all significant they don’t encompass things like; meeting a milestone in a fitness journey, celebrating coming out to family and friends, savoring the intimacy you have with a partner. I believe the moments that make a well lived life aren’t necessarily the big ones and I wanted to create an avenue for people to experience and preserve some of life’s “small” moments. You don’t need a climactic event to make memories that you’ll keep over your lifetime.
A Safe Place for Self-Expression
Modern Grey has always been and always will be a place where self expression is valued and preserved. It is designed for people who are self-identifying as lesbian, gay, trans, queer, non-binary and gender fluid - to feel welcomed, respected, and encouraged to express themselves how ever they choose to do so. Regardless of orientation, gender identity or expression, Modern Grey is a place that will seek to capture what is authentic to you and your experience.
